Our secondary programme consists of a combination of core and subject specific training, incorporating a variety of theoretical and practical sessions as well as school visits to observe outstanding practice. Core training will focus on key areas of teaching and learning, such as planning, assessment for learning, meeting the needs of all learners and behaviour for learning, in addition to professional skills, such as safeguarding and communicating effectively with parents, staff and the wider school community.
The programme encourages trainees to reflect on their own practice as well as teaching observed during school placements and current educational classroom research. Trainees will complete at least two school placements across two consecutive age ranges, spending a minimum of 24 weeks in schools.
